Hi friend! It’s been a while since I’ve written an update, so here we go! Also, I decided to make these mostly very casual, so fair warning haha 🙂

These past few months have certainly not been what I expected. Originally, I was supposed to leave for World Race in August, but this ended up getting postponed till January. Let me give you the back story! In March I broke my foot badly and had to get surgery. This meant a very long recovery that I hoped would be complete enough to launch in August. Little did I know, the Lord had other plans.

Throughout recovery, I kept planning to leave in August, even though the actual recovery process was much more of a thing than I anticipated. I knew the Lord was asking me to take this step, so I kept trusting He would provide the way, which He has, just not in the way I expected. July rolls around and my doctor tells me that I need to have a second surgery to get the plate and screws out of my foot to hopefully stop the pain. A surgery that would take place mid-August and would take time to fully recover from. When I got this news, I began questioning what God was doing. I often, very bluntly, asked, “what the heck, Lord?,” which feels so silly writing, but that’s what I kept asking. Sidenote, what a beautiful thing it is that we do not need to put on a mask with God. Anyway, about this time I called the trip coordinator and told her what my doctor said. We talked and decided that it would be better for me to wait to launch and take the time to fully heal than launch and be in pain and somewhat restricted in ministry. So that is what I did. Postponed.

Pass forward a couple months. I had the surgery, recovered, and started working on strengthening my foot again. And let’s be real, being home for the semester was a very interesting experience. Almost all my good friends were at college, which was interesting to adjust to. For a while, I had nothing to do, which ended up being a great chance to spend extended time with the Lord. That extra time became a really sweet gift. Throughout this short season I started asking God to provide an opportunity to work so that I could fund this trip. Shortly after, I got a text that a friend of a friend of a friend needed a full time nanny. God always provides.

The Lord took this from a season that I was kind of dreading to one that I now love. It certainly had its ups and downs, but it has been really cool to see how God moved in the midst of it. Specifically, how He grew my trust and dependence on Him. Nothing like a completely unknown season to push you to greater dependence! God also taught me a lot about humble service and intentional rest.

All in all, the phrase of this long journey seems to be “the Lord wastes nothing.” But let’s be real — that phrase seems to be the story of my life lol! And any life of a Christ follower. So here I am, 15 days until launch day, and $622 away from being fully funded. If you’re still reading this, thank you for walking this season with me. I’m so grateful for how you have supported me in prayer, finances, etc,. I’m SO excited to step into this new season, which starts in Mexico. And going forward, I plan to be much better at writing updates, sharing what the Lord teaches, and sharing testimonies. And if you’re interested, I invite you to be a part of what the Lord is doing in this squad, whether through prayer, finances, wisdom, or really any other way you want to! I’m grateful for each one of you and am praying for you (if I know your name or not)!

One response to “The Lord Wastes Nothing”

  1. I’m so incredibly proud of the way you handled this unexpected season, finding the sweet gifts in the midst of your wondering. His timing is perfect and He ALWAYS provides. One thing is certain: He has great plans for you, in life and during this upcoming trip. Keep doing what you’re doing and relying on Him to guide every step. I love you always and forever, my sweet girl, and I can’t wait to see how He uses you in this next season! Xoxo 💜 Mom
